Creative Options for Wellness

As a champion of Cohen's creative aging movement, Julie has made it her life's work to promote arts engagement as a wellness initiative. In 2017, Julie became a certified trainer for Expressive Arts in Long Term Care, a health care quality initiative of the Indiana State Department of Health and the University of Indianapolis Center for Aging & Community. Her presentations are interactive and include lots of examples of creative projects that can be duplicated. Presentation are generally 2-3 hours long depending on how much time is spent with interactive demonstrations, and can be customized to your specific needs.

In The Art of Expression: Story Matters

This presentation is largely about sequential learning strategies, and understanding the adult learner.

​It includes an overview of creative aging research and provides hands on demonstration of best practice arts
​and aging programming.

Community Engagement: The Art in Partnership

Designed as a follow up to In the Art of Expression: Story Matters presentation, This presentations focuses on how to use community resources to enhance activity programs and the importance of building collaborative partnerships. 

Julie shares her experiences in working with professional artists, recruiting and managing volunteers, and the fundamentals in planning successful multi-generational experiences.
